Directions:Take one tablet 3 to 4 hours before or after taking CELEXib. Do not exceed the prescribed duration. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage. Use CELEXib as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking CELEXib without consulting your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. If you have a history of intolerance, contact your doctor before taking this medicine. Also inform your doctor if you have a stomach or intestinal condition, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, asthma, anemia, iron deficiency anemia, or an allergy to, or avoid contact with foods containing CELEXib which may contain celecoxib. Take the medicine only if thepictured 4 times each week and your doctor have ordered. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to celecoxib or any other ingredients of celecoxib. In case of accidental overdosage, tell your doctor right away.

WASHINGTON -- A senior U. S. health official said Thursday he was considering a possible new drug to treat the pain of arthritis, but was unsure whether the drug would help ease the painkiller's side effect.
Dr. Roberta S. Smith, an assistant surgeon with the U. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, told ABC News' "This Week" that the drug would take time to develop, but she said the drug would take a long time to find.
"It is certainly possible for it to be developed by a different team," she said.
Smith, who works at the Veterans Affairs complex in San Diego, said the drug is already in development, but she was unsure whether it would be effective in reducing the side effects that might cause patients to take the medicine.
Sometime this year, a new drug to treat pain in arthritis was being developed, the report said.
The drug, which contains celecoxib, works in the brain, the report said.
"I am sure we'll be looking at it a couple of times over and it will be possible to find it," said Dr. David F. Stelter, chief medical officer at Celebrex, a Celebrex brand that's been available since it was introduced in 1998.
Food and Drug Administration's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said she was concerned that the new drug might cause problems.
"We don't want to give them that bad publicity that they're suffering from, and we don't want to give them any bad publicity that they're suffering from," she said.
Stelter's report was written in response to the U. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) warning about the risk of taking the drug while undergoing an operation for a muscle disorder called osteoarthritis. That is a condition in which the muscles are inflamed, causing the joint to hurt.
The drug, which was developed by Novartis, is called Vioxx, or Vioxx. Vioxx is a painkiller that contains Celebrex, an NSAID. The drug has been linked to kidney problems, but the drug was removed from the market in 1999 due to the risk of kidney problems.
Stelter said that Celebrex could be used as a long-term painkiller in patients who have had kidney failure or who have had a stroke. Those patients could be switched to the drug.
The drug is also being studied for uses other than treating arthritis, he said. It could also help reduce pain associated with some forms of arthritis. The drug also may be used as a "nondrug" to treat pain in pain-producing joints, such as the hands.
"I think that there is very good evidence that there is an effect there of taking Vioxx for a long time and that is beneficial," said Dr. Sidney Wolfe, a clinical professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School who is not associated with the FDA.
"There are many studies on this, and we are still trying to figure out whether it will work," said Dr. Stelter.
The study was funded by Pfizer, which is developing Vioxx.

"I would say that the benefit to patients would outweigh the benefit to the health care system," she said.
The drug is being studied for uses other than treating arthritis, said Dr.
